What is Laser Genesis / Skin Rejuvenation?
Laser Genesis/ Skin Rejuvenation is a comfortable non-ablative, non-invasive
form of skin therapy. It is perhaps the most exciting of aesthetic laser
procedures because the outer layer of the skin, the epidermis, is not removed
or damaged by the laser treatment which means no recovery time! This technology
safely, discretely and effectively treats diffuse and excessive redness, mild
scarring, uneven skin textures, large pores and fine line wrinkles. You may go
back to work or other normal activiities immediately following your treatment.
What is diffuse or excessive redness?
Diffuse redness is a general appearance of facial redness, such as rosy cheeks.
As with telangiectasia, this condition is a result of dilated capillaries,
however the appearance is more of general redness rather than discrete well
defined vessels. The most commonly affected areas are the nose, forehead and
cheeks. Diffuse redness is often associated with a condition called Rosacea
and it can be hereditary.
What should I expect with my treatment?
You will be asked to remove any makeup or moisturizer and in some cases, you
may be asked to shave the treatment area so as not to interfere with the laser
treatment. Clients generally describe treatments as relaxing and therapeutic.
You will experience a gentle warming of your skin as the laser hand piece is
passed approximately 1/2 inch above the skin. You can expect to see subtle yet
consistent improvement after each treatment. Although you may immediately return
to your normal activities, you will want to wear a good sunscreen, such as our
Celazome® MAX SPF 29 sunscreen and moisturizer, especially
if you are participating in outdoor activities.
What are the most common side effects?
The most common side effect is temporary redness of the treated skin. Typically
this redness disappears within 1/2 hour to a couple hours after treatment.
What areas can be treated?
Clients report excellent results when Laser Genesis is used on the entire face,
neck and décolleté area. Other areas of the body are treated to reduce the
appearance of mild scarring such as the chest or back with mild residual
scarring from acne or chicken pox.
How many treatments will I need?
Every client has different needs and a variety of desired outcomes making it
difficult to say specifically how many treatments will be necessary. On average,
you will need approximately five treatments in order to achieve visible results.
Depending on your goals, more may be required. The results are often
subtle and cumulative, the more treatments you receive the greater the
improvement and can be quite dramatic. Laser Genesis therapy can help restore
your skin's youthful glow and appearance by smoothing out uneven textures caused
by aging, sun damage or scarring. You will see a creamier, healthy complexion
as large pores are reduced in size, and the minor imperfections are diminished.
What other treatments will help?
Combining Laser Genesis with Microdermabrasion will allow you to achieve much
more dramatic younger, healthy looking skin. Further details on the benefits
of Microdermabrasion are available on this website. Clients that are continuing
to have problems with active acne blemishes may speak with a Nurse Consultant
to discuss a treatment plan that includes a good skin care product line to use
in conjunction with microdermabrasion and Laser Genesis. Smooth Reflections
Laser Center carries several product lines such as MD Forté®,
VIVITÉ®, and OBAGI® to assist
you in meeting your skincare goals. If you are using Laser Genesis to reduce
or eliminate diffuse redness, you may need to have facial vascular skin
treatments for more complete resolution. Follow this link for more information
